P2Culture Employee Profile: Director of Client Services, Marisa Stanley
Marisa joined us exactly three years ago in April 2016 after receiving a referral from an old colleague. In her role, she “takes care of business.” To find out more about Marisa, read her interview below!
What’s a typical day in the life as a Director of Client Solutions?
Typically, my day starts off with about 150 unread emails. Any more than that and I grab some extra coffee before I dig-in. Slack is usually buzzing in the background as I plow through emails, so there’s never a dull moment. The release of our new platform means there’s a lot of work: I’m usually juggle trainings, client calls, helping the team with bids, reviewing contracts, creating guidelines, assisting the Business Development team, investigating projects, tracking revenue – the list goes on.
What are you passionate about when it comes to your job?
I’ve been in the industry for nearly 14 years and have been able to meet some of the most talented people in Market Research. My passion is being able to talk to clients, see how things have evolved over the years, talk about our capabilities, where we can build a stronger relationship. It’s also nice sometimes to just catch-up on personal lives and our growing families.
What kind of music do you listen to while you are working?
HA! You won’t believe this, but I love rap music, mostly the old stuff. I usually listen to T.I,, Lil Wayne, Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G to name a few.
What is the one thing you can’t live without daily?
There would be no way for me to get through my day without a large cup of coffee and morning smiles from my daughter.
If you could become an imaginary/fantasy creature, what would it be and why?
Since the earth is made up of 70 percent water, I’d have to be a mermaid. You’d have the freedom of traveling anywhere you’d like, exploring underwater creatures around the globe.
What’s your favorite thing(s) to do when you aren’t working?
Living in Texas is great, because of the relatively nice weather you have throughout the year. I love to be outside. I spend a lot of time at the pool, going to my nephew’s baseball games, or just sitting around a fire enjoying a nice cold Jack and Coke. I also love to travel and experience new cultures.
Family, kids, pets?
In December I became a mommy, giving birth to my daughter Nadia on December 19th. I never realized how rewarding having a child is, I love coming home to her sweet smiling face.
I also have two cats that do not get as much attention now, their names are Shadow and Tittie Blankenship. I know what you are thinking, where did that name come from. Well, it’s a long story…we don’t have that kind of time.
Any big recent life changing events?
Coming back from maternity leave meant I had to bring my daughter to daycare. It was probably one of the hardest days I’ve had, and I cried once I got to my car (so no one could see me). Some people say that motherhood has softened me, I’m still in total denial (turning up my rap music now).
Who is your spirit animal and why?
The white Bengal tiger is my spirit animal. I love their beauty and power. They are so rare and exotic, they give me a sense of peace when I see one.
